KITTY TAIT & A MARMITE GLAZED BLONDIE
one incredible woman, her unadulterated love of bread and a killer blondie recipe
Good morning!
I’m writing to you from Berlin today, where I’ve come to focus and work on a very exciting project for the next month. I am enjoying lots of delicious food, mostly pizza, pretzel, knodel and lots of sauerkraut. I’m considering writing a Berlin food guide at the end of my trip with all my recommendations. Would that be of interest to anyone? Let me know.
I am so very excited to share this weeks newsletter with you, it contains an incredible recipe and a conversation with one of my favourite people. If you are someone who “hates” Marmite, please don’t be put off. I have tested this out on a marmite hating friend and they loved these blondies. I would say it’s more of a salty edge than an overwhelming Twiglets like flavour. Give it a try, I challenge you not to adore them.
If you don’t already know about Kitty Tait, then you are in for a treat. Her story is so inspiring, almost unbelievable and sure to put a smile on your face. As she says in her IG bio, she “just loves bread”, and to this I can relate hard. I just love food, and that love is at the centre of everything I do. It’s not so often that someone comes along and blows me away as much has Kitty has done. She was handed a fat sack of lemons and she made the most delicious situation out of her difficult circumstances. She stands for everything I believe in; great bread, food education, making great food accessible and spreading the word as far and wide as possible. I think everyone should have a go at making a loaf of bread, it’s a very useful skill to have, can provide so much joy (as seen in Kitty!) and can and should be eaten at almost any time of day.
Kitty has just launched her very own Substack newsletter, Gluten Morning, which we dive into below, but if you haven’t already, check it out! It’s well worth subscribing to.
Sending love & blondies, Rosie x
