Ciao guys,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and revelled in rest, relaxation, delicious food and a good dose of fun. It feels like it’s been a while since I shared some honest, vulnerable feelings with you here, and so this week’s newsletter will be just that. I am coming out of what can only be described as the busiest, most exhilarating, stressful and surreal month of my life, and let me tell you, my body is feeling it. I always thought the big challenge of writing a book would be, well, writing it. But turns out the build up to publication, promotion and ever present pressure to sell it, is more of a challenge than the actual making of it. The last month has been a rollercoaster of surprises good and bad, starting with our eviction (bad surprise), booking live TV (good surprise), hearing pre-orders of my book were lower than expected (bad surprise), meeting someone really rather special (good surprise) and on and on.
I have a lot to say about it all, some new observations on modern dating culture and my very specific and warped relationship with it, and some reflections on the idea of success, failure and the ever widening chasm between my online and personal life. As usual with my more personal writing, I always feel a level of discomfort around sharing it with the internet, and so these thoughts will be for my paid subscribers, for whom I am very grateful.
Before we get to the real stuff, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to anyone who has ordered my book In for Dinner so far, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. If any of you have been thinking of getting a copy and haven’t gotten around to it yet, I would be oh so grateful if you did this week. The first week of sales for a debut author is incredibly important and can make a huge difference to the lasting success, which in turn will allow me to hopefully write another book for you, which I would love to do! You can order In for Dinner now, from everywhere that sells books.
Ok let’s get into it…
