Well well well, just like that we are coming to the end of July. Where has the time gone? I truly couldn’t tell you. What I can say is that this month has been a big one work wise for me, and I have been spending a lot of time at home, squirrelling away on big projects that have all culminated at the end of this month. It’s a strange feeling to have a very busy work period while it feels like everyone else is on a beach in Greece. Is it just me that has a feed full of beautiful Grecian scenes littered with feta? If anything it has been motivation to work hard and get through this busy period before my own holiday to Greece at the end of August, my first time visiting the country and I couldn’t be more excited! Please do let me know if you have any recommendations, food or otherwise, I’ll be travelling around and so am keen to know where the best food, beaches and tavernas can be found. I’ll be sure to share all my finds on my return.
While we don’t always eat lunch together in the warehouse, if there is more than a few of us working from home, I will usually pull together a little something for us to all sit down to. I am a strong believer that taking a proper break for lunch and sitting down to eat something nourishing and delicious is crucial to productivity and morale through the afternoon. I work all morning in anticipation of what I will be eating for lunch, and I power through the afternoon with the energy it provides.
This week’s recipe comes from my interviewee, the wonderful Alexandra Dudley - author of the equally wonderful Substack, Come For Supper. If you aren’t already subscribed, I highly recommend you do. I’m so excited for you to read our interview, Alexandra is so many things; a brilliant cook, business woman, writer and podcast host - is there anything she can’t do?! We first connected over Instagram and have been internet friends for a while before recently meeting IRL over a perfect sunny breakfast at Towpath on Regents Canal, we put the world to rights over crispy sage fried eggs and tomatoes on toast. Alexandra was just as generous, kind and sunny in person as she is online and it was such a joy to get to know her more personally here and share it all with you. We cover everything below from her morning routine, to low cost tablescaping hacks, the secret to successful hosting and how she got into the food space and the career she has now. I’ve personally taken a piece of her advice from the interview and have been implementing it into my working week and can’t tell you the difference it’s made to my headspace, so I hope you get something from it too!
I hope you enjoy this slow roasted pepper plate as much as the warehouse did, and whether you are working hard, or hardly working, that this interview gives you a welcome moment to pause.
Sending love, Rosie x
